Why Settle for Napa?

Meet the New Wine Country in Kelowna and Okanagan

If you want an epic wine country tour, head to the place that’s breaking new ground in the wine industry. For years, Napa Valley was considered the epicenter of it all, but now just north, the Kelowna and Okanagan wineries in British Columbia are the new cool for North American viticulture.

It wasn’t that long ago that there were merely 31 wineries in the area. Now, that number has skyrocketed beyond 130. If you’re looking to have a tour of vineyards in a sublime setting before the rest of the world tramples it to death, it’s time to make your way to the Okanagan. What could be better than sipping on stunning vintages while overlooking the resplendent Okanagan Lake?

This hidden gem is slowly being unveiled by wine enthusiasts who are always on the quest for something new and indulgent. While Canadians have been privy to this information for years, the word is just getting out around the world about this spectacular Canadian wine country.

Wineries like Mission Hill have gained notoriety in recent years. A quick look through photographs might have you thinking you’ve fallen into the hills of Tuscany. It also serves as a farm-to-table place where the rustic foods pair so dearly with the wines. Places like Upper Bench Winery & Creamery is another perfect palate pleaser where you can enjoy some of the best rosé of your life along with fresh handcrafted cheeses. Sit on the patios of Quail’s Gate, Summerhill and Gray Monk wineries and experience the sunset over beautiful Okanagan Lake while enjoying your wine.

Monster Vineyards is one that appeals to the younger set of wine drinkers with a funky fun vibe while Summerhill in Kelowna is a sight for the eyes as well. The wines here are aged in a replica of Egypt’s Great Pyramid of Giza. And that’s just a few of them. There are wineries galore out here, all waiting to be tasted and explored.

“The Cadder House is beautiful. I stayed here for a month during my clinical rotation. The Cadder House is indeed a home away from home. It is fairly central, so even without a car, downtown, parks and beaches are within walking distance. Thank you for making my stay comfortable and enjoyable! I will definitely be back!”
